Global Workers of the Week

Jan 18, 2026

This faithful couple served as lay youth leaders at churches (including Victory) for over 15 years, until in 2001 they yielded to the call of God to serve overseas. They are now serving in one of Eurasia’s large cities. They are English language pastors at a church which also has fellowship groups in three other languages.

They spoke at Victory one Sunday this past March, and say:

We are so happy to call Victory one of our home churches and were so delighted to get to spend a bit of time there last Spring. Getting to meet so many new folks there and renew acquaintances from years gone by was so very special. We know the work of the food pantry must be being stretched so due to the economy. We will be keeping that in our prayers, that God would provide abundantly the blessings needed to meet the needs of those in the Winchester area!

Their location in Eurasia has seen an influx of people fleeing wars, and rent has become very expensive. This affects church members individually, but also the rent at the church had become unsustainable. In addition, that building was zoned commercial rather than religious so was in danger of being closed by authorities. Yet God prepared a place for them at a historic church where they had had preached several times, so they now have a time slot on Sunday mornings in that building.

Financial and other pressures mean high turnover in the congregation. This can get discouraging. A praise report though: their new location is being found by visitors from around the world. God brings people specifically for a day, to hear a sermon which impacts them and they seek prayer for their lives. Believing tourists who walk in encourage this couple with their desire to join in prayer that the lost would come to know the Truth. The couple welcomes tourists and others into their hearts and sends them on their way as needed, knowing they ministered the Gospel during their time together.

Prayer Requests:

Pray God would give them creativity and wisdom as they lead people who remain in the congregation in this difficult season.

Pray that new people would be given visas to live here, including potential new workers who are in the process of approval by AGWM or are raising funds to join our team.

Pray for the couple’s own health, for safety, and against any schemes of the enemy.

There have been credible threats to other churches in the country, so police are often in attendance as security.

The church welcomes these individuals and continues preaching the gospel as they watch.

Pray for God’s word to penetrate all listening ears.
